TSDS is your source for community, connection, and a little magic.
The Second Line Stompers are a Raleigh-area ensemble dedicated to the vibrant sound of New Orleans Jazz—also known as Early Jazz, Dixieland, or Traditional Jazz. Led by clarinetist and bandleader Gregg Gelb, the group brings together some of the region’s most seasoned musicians, with deep roots in ensembles such as Gregg Gelb Swing Band, Atomic Rhythm All Stars, Squirrel Nut Zippers, the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, and the North Carolina Symphony.
The Stompers deliver driving collective improvisation, rich horn harmonies, and the infectious rhythms that define classic traditional jazz. Drawing on decades of performance experience across the Southeast and beyond, the Second Line Stompers offer an energetic, historically grounded celebration of America’s original jazz tradition.
