Sharing the wonder of swing dancing across the Triangle
TSDS is committed to promoting swing dance and live swing music in the Triangle region. Reach out if you’re planning a jazz party and would like to invite some swing dancers.
We are always excited to share our love of swing dances at events across the Triangle.
Please note that we are not a performance troupe — rather, we’re a community of volunteers interested in sharing the joy of social dancing.
Here are the types of events we’d love to be a part of:
Festivals and Music Events
Got a band playing jazz music at your festival? Would like to have dancers on the dance floor or in front of the stage? We’ll be there!
Jazz Concerts
Throwing a jazz party? We’d love to hear about it and invite our community to show up — whether it’s a high school jazz band performance or a community event at a park.
Dance Adventures
We love festivals, but nothing is as fun as getting folks to get jazzed about jazz — whether it’s a flashmob, a danceoff, or creating moments of dance delight. If you’re an event organizer looking for a little more jazz-related pizzazz, reach out.
FAQs
Are you a performance group?
No, we’re not. If you’re looking for a performance group for your event, we’re not going to be a fit for you.
Do you also teach lessons?
We have volunteer-led lessons before our dances, but our primary focus is outreach to the wider community in the Triangle. If you’re looking for instructors to teach swing dancing to your group or organization, we have a list of local dance instructors we can shareon this page. What can we expect if we invite you to our event?
We’re going to share your event with our community members and invite them to be there. We’ll promote your event via email and social media and will be there ready to swing out, talk about swing dancing, create moments of jazz-related joy, or all of the above.
What’s in it for you?
One of our strategic goals as an organization is to have everyone in the Triangle region know the wonder of swing dancing.
Too ambitious?
Maybe.
But we truly would love to have more folks catch the swing dancing bug and join us.
Are there any events you won’t consider?
As a rule, we’ll be prioritizing events that are open to a wider community and focused on swing dancing as an experience. We’re less likely to promote or participate in events that are focused on fundraising or teaching a small group how to dance. If you’re not sure if your event is a fit, reach out!
