TSDS Board Elections

The TSDS Annual Board Elections will be held December 2, 2017 in conjunction with the Annual Meeting & Dance

Potluck & Annual Membership Meeting

EVERYONE is invited for the 6:30 community potluck and 7:15 annual membership meeting, regardless of TSDS membership status.  It will run in parallel to the beginner lesson, in another room. TSDS will provide paper plates, plastic forks, spoons and knives, napkins, water and ice. Please bring a dish of your choice. If you’re reading this and thinking “But I don’t cook; what can I bring?” That’s okay, you can bring chips or soft drinks or pretty much anything. In past years we’ve had a wide variety of entrees and side dishes and dessert.

Meet the Candidates

We ended up with six interested nominees for five open seats. If a TSDS member did not get an email with voting instructions by November 29, please contact a board member, post on the Facebook wall, or members can vote at the annual membership meeting.

Nominees are listed in alphabetical order.

I had never taken a dance class nor been particularly “athletic” my entire life. I decided to take some Ballroom Dance lessons in about 2008/9 for fun and exercise. I have been taking lessons off and on ever since. I am currently taking lessons from Daniel McClain who got me interested in Swing Dancing (East, West, Lindy Hop, and Balboa). I’m hooked! I would be very happy to serve on the TSDS Board and “pay back” the fun, friendship and support that I get from dancing and the TSDS dance community.

For dance scenes to exist and flourish, it’s important to pitch in, and serving on the TSDS board is a way that I can lend talent and give some time to keep this far-above-average scene humming. I look forward to serving another two-year term and meeting the new contributors.

Have always loved to dance but got away from it for many years, actually decades, until I moved into Durham area and was looking for ways to meet people and socialize. Learned about Triangle Swing Dance Society, attended my first dance about fifteen months ago and have been coming back ever since. It is the wonderful musicians, talented dancers and friendliness of everyone who attends TSDS dances that I enjoy and would love to help promote if I am chosen to serve on the board of directors. I am nearly fanatical about details, am responsible and work well with others.
